Bosh, Golem Catalyst

If you haven't realized by now, I'm a fan of tribal commander. Today we are going to take a look at a tribal deck based around my favorite Legend from back when I fist started really playing Magic: Bosh, Iron Golem. I just always loved Bosh's flavor a giant golem that trampled over foes and when he didn't get his way he started throwing things around. I was very happy when they came out with the color identity rules, so that I can now play Bosh as my commander.


Commander:  Bosh, Iron Golem
Bosh is the hero of the story here, he wont be the largest golem in the deck, but he will always make his presence known. 8 is a lot of mana, and many other golems are costly as well. We will be looking at ways to accel mana or cheat the costs. We will also be looking closely at artifacts that are large to benifite from being thrown.


Golem leaders: powerful abilties that will lead our team to victory.
1)Arcbound Overseer - also 8 mana, but he causes himself to grow. Also when he dies his power just shifts around the field. We will see some other arcbound as well, later.
2)Brass Herald - The golem lord that will also be viable card advantage for this deck.
3)Golem Artisan - Manipulates the team to be even more formitable
4)Karn, Silver Golem - The other legendary golem has to be on the team. Good at turning our non creature cards into attackers as well.
5)Lodestone Golem - While we will have a few non artifact cards, not as many as other people.
6)Mycosynth Golem - Will make the team free.
7)Platinum Emperion - Defencive while being a huge beatstick.
8)Sundering Titan - while he may be mean, he is way to on theme for this deck not to play him.

Golem Grunts: The base force of the deck
9)Beast of Burden - Just a large beat stick, I have fond memories of this guy.
10)Blightsteel Colossus - The newer of the iconic colossi, he will outright kill people when he attacks.
11)Darksteel Colossus - The origional icon. Must be included if only for nastaliga
12)Arcbound Reclaimer - Minor reccursion, or combo enabler.
13)Arcbound Bruiser - Arcbound ability helps to enable a combo...
14)Darksteel Sentinel - Good at blocking out of nowhere.
15)Darksteel Sentinel - Really, Really large with Mycosynth golem's help
16)Enatu Golem- Good at blocking, can help gain life when needed.
17)Hexplate Golem - Fairly good size beatstick
18)Junktroller - Early defence and reanimater hate
19)Mirror Golem- Graveyard hate that becomes a good blocker
20)Rusted Sentinel - Early defender
21)Solemn Simulacrum - mana accel and replaces itself when used to chump block.
22)Tuktuk the Explorer- becomes a good golem at least.
23)Voltaic Construct - Great for turning attackers into blockers.
Almost golems:
24)Titan Forge- Takes time, but pumps out repeated golems
25)Rusted Relic- will usually be a 5/5 golem
26)Golem Foundry- will be worth it over time.

Other Sacrifice outlets: Before I go further I want some more artifact sac outlets.
27)Krark-Clan Ironworks - Sac for some extra mana, probably the best outlet
28)Throne of Geth - While only a 1 time shot per turn, proliferate will be useful
29)Slobad, Goblin Tinkerer- Before the color identity rule this was used as my commander in this deck...

Artifacts that like to be thrown:
30)Ichor Wellspring - Draw 2 cards, ok
31)Spine of Ish Sah - I dont think I need to explain
 Charge counter cards- decided to add a theme of charge counter cards.
32)Clearwater Goblet- Life gain each turn, starts out small, but when charge counters are added...
33)Arcane Spyglass- draw some extra cards, yes please
34)Contagion Clasp- powers up charge cards, or counters
35)Contagion Engine- even more, while wiping away opposing armies.
36)Energy Chamber- grow some guys or charge counters
37)Everflowing Chalice- mana boost

Other artifacts I want in here.
47)Kuldotha Forgemaster- used to find any missing pieces
48)Cloud Key- makes everything cheaper

49)Golem's Heart- gain life while playing and it's on theme
50)Slate of Ancestry- should be a good way to refill my hand
51)Unwinding Clock- seedborn muse for artifats
Other cards:
52)Karn Liberated- Gotta pay tribute, not to mention he is really good.
53)Bludgeon Brawl- just fits the theme of taking whatever is laying around and smacking your opponent with it.
54)Wheel of Fortune - I expect to be out of cards in hand often, this will refill
55)Reforge the Soul - It's a miracle!!

56)Wheel of Fate - I can wait a few turns for a refill. 
57)Chaos Warp - can be used as removal or to replace a card about to be destroyed
58)Pyrohemia- Our guys are almost always bigger than our opponents'
Last combo piece:
59)Blade of the Bloodchief- So the combo for this deck is Arcbound Reclaimer and Brass Herald. When you play brass herald sac him to any sac engine and use reclaimer to put him on top of your library. You will reveal him and put him back into your hand along with 0-3 more golems. If mycosynth is in play you can do it again all you need is a way to put +1/+1 counters on reclaimer.  
Lands:
1) Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle- this deck is a mono colored deck vala will trigger
2)Buried Ruin - return anything to your hand
3)Dread Statuary- just for being a golem
4)Inkmoth Nexus- can kill someone on its own
5)Phyrexia's Core- another sac outlet.
6)Darksteel Citadel- artifact land
7)Eye of Ugin- less a land more a way of finding any golem you want
8)Miren, the Moaning Well may need to gain life
9)Vesuva- Ideally copying Valakut
10)Winding Canyons- instant golems
11-40)Mountain

38)Gemstone Array- Saves mana for later
Mana rocks:

39)Gilded Lotus- Gets me 3 mana and has a body to be thrown later in the game

40)Sisay's Ring- 2 mana for 4 is meh

41)Ur-Golem's Eye - at least this one is on theme
42)Sol Ring - I dont like to play this in every deck like some do, but it works here
43)Thran Dynamo- 3 mana for 4 is just fine.
44)Clock of Omens- not really a mana rock, but tapping 2 artifacts to untap
45)Voltaic Key- usually untaps a rock early game, later untapping creatures or tap to use artifacts

46)Expedition Map- gets a missing land, often valakut.

  1. I like that you included Golem's Heart and Ur-Golem's Eye in the name of theme.

    You also have lots of great targets for Bosh to toss around when he gets mad. The fact that you did all this while staying on-theme is pretty impressive.
